school's OUT & holiday's IN

Hihi everyone! Rabbito's back to blog again. Yes, as usual. I can see a invisible layer of dust on my blog. Today officially marks the end of the school year for the students and of course, for us TEACHERS. Did I just say TEACHERS?? Woah...it's been about half a year since I started off my career officially. I can't seem to recollect where all the time has flown to. It just felt like I only started teaching yesterday, and now it's been 6 months.

I started off feeling anxious because of the things that I heard about my class before I even took them. BELIEVE IT ANOT! So, with that very little bit of time that I had left of the June holidays this year, I geared myself up for a class that was going to be a challange to teach plus the fact that I also had to adjust myself as a beginning teacher and the responsibilities of being a form teacher.

As the days went on, I was beginning to enjoy teaching them and the moments that we shared together. Yes, I must say there were really days when I went into my class feeling very frustrated by them but there were also those moments that you find them so adorable. I had high expectations of them and needless to say of myself. Both in terms of how I prepared my lessons and how they behaved in class & in 'public'.

Then came the exams. Very NERVE RECKING! First, I was worried that syllabus cannot be finished. Second, will the girls be able to do well for the exams. Third came the marking of the papers... (That was scary. 3 of us marked the maths paper for the whole level!!! Trust me, we nearly blurred from seeing all those numbers!!!) Then came results and all the administrative work to be settled for this year and also for promotion. It was CRAZY literally. All things happened at the same time...Everyone in the staff room trying to finalize all the results, keying in results & preparing result slips. Then the worst thing happened, the LAN network went off as a result of heavy usage!!! You can imagine everyone 'scolding' their laptops and not to forget the LAN network that caused it.

The last couple of days were even harder to bear, knowing that everyone was going to be in different classes next year and it won't be long before I'm not their form teacher anymore. My girls cried. I was also tempted to but I held myself back. I knew they needed the strength from me & if I cried, the rest of the girls will also cry and that would have been a 'flood pool' in class.

But I must say I really enjoy being in this job, not because I have a bond to fulfil and definitely not for the money. (Hate it when some people think a teacher's job is damn EASY...Just teach and go home...My suggestion to those people: COME TRY IT URSELF AND FIND OUT IF IT'S THAT EASY!!) Sorrie for the side-tracking! That's besides the point. It's the fruit of the effort that you have put in and the process of growing together with the children.

-------------------------------------
Now that holidays are here, it's also time for me to rest and to reflect on the things that I've done for these 6 months. And to think about aims for the coming year (though not sure which level i'll be teaching yet).
Comes the fun part...HOLIDAY !!! Next up on my vacation list is PERTH TRIP with the school NETBALL team. Being one of the teachers-in-charge, I have the privilege of going with the girls and colleagues to Perth from 19th Nov till 26th Nov though I have already been there 3 times. Mainly for the girls to learn new skills and techniques and to play with their local clubs I presume. Would be cool I think...makes me think of my team trip to brisbane some 9 yrs back. (shan't tell you exactly how old I am now...bleah!)

Then when I come back, need to clear up some school stuff. Then in mid-Dec, I'm off to Macau and Hong Kong for a week...hahah....Envy me people!!Hahah....

Anyway, shall not bore you further with my own happenings...Stay tune for the photos coming up on this blog....
